What AI buyers want from a software company
Coding models learn from real engineering history. Mercor's listing asks for the private code your team built and the history behind it. Pull requests, code reviews, tickets and incident write-ups show how engineers really work.
What makes software data worth more
- History, not just a snapshot. Commits, reviews and the tickets they closed.
- Linked records. The ticket, the discussion and the pull request that fixed it.
- Production systems. Real products beat demos and side projects.
What to check first
Remove passwords, API keys and other secrets from the code and its history. Check open source licenses on anything you didn't write. Customer data in your databases needs to come out or be de-identified.
